Bikker, Andin C.G.

Bio

Andin is co-founder of the firm. He is currently not active at the firm while holding tenure as an elected official serving the country of Aruba since 2009. He is admitted to the Bar in Aruba, Curacao, Sint Maarten and Bonaire Saba and St. Eustatius as of 1995. He holds two law degrees from the Free University of Amsterdam and followed a post graduate course of capita selecta tax law at the University of Amsterdam. He is co-founder of Gomez Bikker COffie. His practice concentrates on Aruba corporate law and finance, start up finance ("crowd funding"), securities laws, e-commerce and telecommunications, real estate, civil and administrative litigation. He is an author and lecturer on Aruba law. He has been co-counsel in various cases filed at the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Additional positions

Andin is currently Of Counsel while holding a tenure of second term elected Senator at the Aruba Senate. Andin spearheaded amongst others the introduction of appeal in two instances and at the Supreme Court in tax matters. He is member of the Senate Board Committee on Daily Affairs as well as President of the Committee on State and Utility Companies. He is past president and general board member of the Aruba Financial Center Association. Andin is a member of various international professional organizations, such as Parlatino. He is co-founder of Digicel Aruba.

Coffie, C. Bryan

Bio

Bryan is admitted to the Bar in Aruba, Curacao, Sint Maarten and Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius. He holds a law degree from the University of Aruba. Bryan is very active in litigation matters, with a focus on employment related matters where he often advises employers and represents both employers and employees in dismissal cases. He also represents clients in lease matters, construction law matters, criminal law defense and immigration law litigation matters. Before being admitted to the Bar he worked at the Government of Aruba.

Additional positions

He is the chairman of the board of the largest school foundation of Aruba. He is also co-editor of the Aruba’s labor law compilation published by the Gomez & Bikker Foundation and a lecturer on Aruba labor laws.

Fowler, Benki
of counsel

Bio

As of October 2014 Benki joined Gomez & Bikker as of counsel, following a long an outstanding career in the pubic sector and in the private sector. Benki acted as head of the tax inspectorate of Aruba and alter acted as a candidate civil law notary. He was also a supervisory director at the Aruba Bank for many years and also had a seat in the bank's credit committee. He was instrumental in developing the new law office of a Curacao based law firm that established itself in Aruba.
His vast knowledge and experience landed him a position in the State Council of Aruba. In that position he issued opinions and advice of legislation prior to its implementation.
In his position as of counsel he will be in active in business development and in the professional development of the lawyers at Gomez & Bikker.

Gomez, Lincoln D.

Bio

Lincoln D. Gomez is a partner of Gomez Bikker Coffie. His corporate law practice is concentrated in the areas of aircraft title, registration, financing and leasing and related matters. He is also a guest lecturer at the Universiteit van Aruba on Aviation Registration and Aviation Finance Law.
His general practice focuses on: Aruba corporate law, energy law, international tax, intellectual property and civil litigation. His clients and peers refer to him as “the Aruba Guy” for finding creative solutions to complex legal issues in Aruba.
In his energy practice he represents government's interests in developing renewable and sustainable energy policies. As counsel to the power distribution company in Aruba, he is responsible for guiding the tender process and PPA negotiations for the construction of the biggest solar car park in the Caribbean.
Lincoln holds degrees in International Tax & Financial Services from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, a law degree from the Universiteit van Aruba and degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Saint Leo University.
He is a past President of the Aruba Bar Association. He is a founding member of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Miami dutchbizmiami.com. He is an active blogger on lincolngomez.com.

Rietveld, Aafje A.E.

Bio

Aafje A.E. Rietveld is now based in Aruba and has filed for admission to the Bar of the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curacao and Sint Maarten, and of Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius. Admission is expected to take place in early in 2016. Aafje proudly joined Gomez & Bikker in December 2015.
Aafje graduated at Leiden University in the Netherlands in 2000. She holds a degree in Corporate Law and a degree in Civil Law. Aafje was admitted to the Netherlands Bar in 2000. Starting her career at the Rotterdam office of Loyens & Loeff, one of the biggest and renowned law firms in the Netherlands.
Since, she has been working, amongst others, as an in-house lawyer for the Dutch Association of Shareholders (Vereniging van Effectenbezitters, VEB), gaining ample experience in the field of corporate governance and shareholder litigation, and for Value8 N.V., an NYSE-Euronext listed company, founded by Peter Paul de Vries, former VEB-chairman. At Value8 Aafje, in her twofold role as Director of the Legal department and as in-house lawyer, conducted multiple (M&A) transactions and IPO’s. In 2014 Aafje successfully kick started her own specialized law office, Corporate Balance (www.corporatebalance.nl), before unexpectedly moving, due to a career opportunity of her husband, to Aruba in 2015.
Aafjes’ main areas of expertise entail corporate law, securities law, labor law, (start up) finance, intellectual property and civil litigation. She has gained well over 15 years of professional working experience, working for a broad array of international and Dutch clients, ranging from multinationals to SME’s, entrepreneurs and stake- and shareholders.

Extracurricular

Before moving to Aruba Aafje was running candidate (Dutch political party D66) for the 2015 elections of “Provinciale Staten Zuid Holland” (the provincial parliament of the Dutch province of Zuid-Holland). Aafje was, amongst others, chairman of the “Stichting Rechtswinkel Zoetermeer” (Legal Aid Center) and member of the Parent Teacher Association (medezeggenschapsraad) of a primary school in The Hague.
